In February 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia once again surprised the world with its performance, setting a new record in cargo transportation. During this month, an impressive 14.5 million tons of cargo was transported by various modes of transport. This figure not only exceeded all expectations, but also became the best result since the beginning of the full-scale war. This is an increase of 30% compared to the same period in 2023 and 3% compared to the previous month.

The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia confirms these impressive figures. In particular, cargo exports in February increased by 53% compared to last year. Port stations transported 5.2 million tons of cargo, and western border crossings transported 2.6 million tons.

Out of this total amount of cargo, 3.3 million tons (22.7%) were grain crops. Most of them, namely 2.8 million tons, were transported through ports, and another 537 thousand tons were transported through western border crossings.

Not only external but also internal transportation showed impressive results. They reached more than 5.8 million tons, which is 6% more than in February last year. Imports also grew by 65% to 872.4 thousand tons.

Yevhen Liashchenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC «Ukrzaliznytsia», emphasized: «In February, we transported a record amount of cargo since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The Ukrainian sea corridor has once again demonstrated its efficiency, and this has become a key factor in ensuring the export of almost 7.8 million tons of cargo, more than half of which is grain.»

It is worth noting that in January 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia also set a record by transporting 3.93 million tons of grain cargo, the highest figure in the last two years and since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
